Four Rivers Community School...

                                                    A lot to offerPhoto

Who We Are

Four Rivers Community School is a public charter school located in Ontario, Oregon. Our school has a dual-language immersion program that is designed to teach students in their first and second languages in one week increments. For example:  A Primary Spanish immersion teacher would teach one week of first grade while the English immersion teacher is teaching second grade. Then the classes switch the next week. This allows the teacher to stay in his/her room and have all of the materials, books, posters, etc. in the target language creating a “whole immersion environment.”

This type of team teaching creates a positive collaborative environment allowing new teachers the comfort and guidance from a more experienced teacher while acquiring new skills and strategies. It is a true collaboration-both teachers learning and working together for students.

Our Families

Parents are highly encouraged to come and go throughout the day as their schedule allows. The parents of Four Rivers Community School are highly regarded and their input is valued. Our implementation of school uniforms, addition to middle school, and family Fridays are an example of our parents’ participation and contribution.

Our Students

Unlike many other public charter schools, Four Rivers Community School primarily serves low income students. The school was carefully created to deliver the highest quality education to all of our students. Our students are respectful, appreciative and eager to learn. They practice pride, purpose and performance through the classroom communities that have been created.

Curriculum

Four Rivers Community School is proud to say that our teachers get to “teach”.   We do not use commercially-published programs to guide our teaching. Teachers use the Oregon State Frameworks and create relevant materials to match student interest, abilities, and benchmarks. Teachers at Four Rivers Community School have the opportunity to directly apply their newly acquired teaching  methods and ideas into their classrooms.

Compensation

Four Rivers Community School offers an extremely competitive, above market, salary and benefits package. We offer whole family insurance coverage, state retirement, continuous professional development and growth, book and classroom supply budgets, and much more.

What our teachers say...

“As a new teacher, I really appreciate the support I receive from fellow teachers. I am also impressed by the way the students at FRCS encourage, support, and feel responsible for each other. We truly are a learning community!” -Zoila

“I like the way the staff all work together to find solutions that are in the best interest of the students and the community.” -Emma
